The Argentine Republic has been a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) since 1889.

Since then, it has maintained active and sustained participation in the Organization’s decision-making bodies, commissions and working groups.

Argentina has had the honor of serving as a continuous member of the ITU Council, held the General Secretariat for the 1954-1958 term, and hosted the World Telecommunication Development Conference in 1994 and 2017.

Argentina contributes the technical expertise, professionalism and commitment of its specialists, promoting dialogue, cooperation and consensus-building.

As part of the Council, Argentina seeks to represent the interests and priorities of Region A – Americas in a balanced and constructive manner, while reaffirming its strong commitment to innovation, digital transformation, connectivity expansion and continuous improvement of service quality.
